Mina Mina by Judy Napangardi Watson
This Jukurrpa comes from Mina Mina, 300km west of Yuendumu, country sacred to Napangardi and Napanangka women. In the Dreaming women danced at Mina Mina and digging sticks rose up out of the ground. The women collected these up and travelled on, dancing and creating many places. Mina Mina is salt lake, sandhill and desert oak country. The horizontal lines in the work are representative of the sandhills of the western desert, the central design symbolises how the vastness of the landscape is fragmented by the spindly limbs of the desert oak.
